Following the 2018 Maths Meets, MTANT President John Bament provided a reflection on the importance of these conferences for both teachers and the students we teach...
Morning wonderful Maths teacher
I sat in my classroom this morning reflecting on what a fantastic learning and networking opportunity MathsMeet North and South was this weekend. Thank you so much for taking the time to attend this important professional development and I hope you found it beneficial.
I have already heard some fantastic feedback about both our keynotes - Peter Sullivan and Joel Speranza, as well as the 20 workshops that were run by local and interstate presenters. If you would like to share anything else with me, please get in touch.
I hope you walked away with at least a couple of new ideas that you can implement in your classroom. I encourage you to try one of these this week - good luck. If you can, please let me know how it goes as I would love to share this with our growing network of Territory Maths teachers.
Resources from both conferences, in Alice Springs and Darwin, will be made available to you on this website.
We are all passionate about the wonderful subject of Mathematics, love the Terrritory and want to support as many of our students as possible to enjoy and excel in Maths. Your students do appreciate the efforts you go to and I know that they will benefit even more from the time you gave to your professional development at MathsMeet this weekend. Thank you.
All the best for the rest of the term and school year.
Regards John Bament MTANT President and O'Loughlin Catholic College Maths Teacher
